Lebanon offers wonderful hiking options in its mountains and gorges. These hikes typically cover relatively short distances between villages, so planning to stop for the night poses no problems. The country also has six large ski resorts with different difficulty levels of pistes. Equipment is available for hire on-site at reasonable prices.
On the Lebanese coast, sandy beaches are fairly rare. More often, you will go for a swim by diving off natural rock formations or man-made platforms built on jetties. Of all the sand beaches, the most beautiful is at the southern tip of the country, south of Tyre. There are a few others nearby Byblos and Chekka, close to Tripoli. Swimming holes around rocks are often great places to dive. Waterskiing, windsurfing and sailing are also very popular.
