Communication styles

What do you need to know about verbal and non-verbal communication?

Because Lebanon is a Middle Eastern society, its people are typically friendly and cordial, to the point that their privacy bubbles are often very small. During discussions, they hold themselves very close to their audience.

Touching the other person during a conversation happens very frequently. A pat on the shoulder or holding the other person’s hand is common between people of the same sex. These acts have no sexual connotations and are purely a mark of friendship.

It is important not to maintain eye contact for too long, particularly with the elderly, as this can be seen as a sign of aggression.
