The preferred model for civil service is the chronological model. The chronological model presents your work experience from the most recent to the oldest, highlighting your career’s progression.

Key components of a CV:

1. Personal information

This section should include:

- Last name;

- Home address;

- Home and work telephone numbers if possible;

- Membership in an exclusive or restricted professional society.

2. Education

List all your diplomas, degrees and relevant certificates in reverse chronological order (from the most recent to the oldest):

- Title of the diploma or degree;

- Academic institutions;

- Month and year of graduation;

- Period of attendance for courses still in progress.

3. Work experience

This is the most important part of your CV, and the one that managers will tend to focus on.

List your work experience in reverse chronological order (starting with the last position that you held), providing:

- Start and end dates (month and year);

- Job title;

- Name of employer and department;

- Tasks performed, main duties and achievements.

4. Knowledge and skills

This section allows you to indicate if you speak more than one language, are proficient in any specialized software or special tools, as well as any other information that is relevant to the job opening.

5. Personal experience (optional)

State personal experiences and activities that allowed you to:

- Assume substantial responsibilities;

- Develop your personal qualities;

- Acquire significant experience (interpersonal or other).

6. References

We suggest that you indicate “References available on request”.

However, do make sure you have the letters of reference in your possession.
